Within A Dream (I)(II)(III) Explanation

Within a Dream (I) (II) (III)

This triptych of three oil paintings are inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s poem, “A Dream Within a Dream.” The concentric circles represent the idea of things being within things, and blending the paint out between each one adds a hazy or dreamy quality. Shimmer mist was also sprayed on each of the canvases to enhance that quality. Lastly, there is also the connection to eyes, as the part of the poem that preceded the title reads, “All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.”
