Fear is the Mind-Killer
This oil painting was inspired by Dune. The sand dunes that give the book its name are featured in the background of this piece, while a vibrant blue eye affected by the “spice” takes the main stage. Piercing through it is the gom jabbar needle that is used to test an individual’s ability to endure and overcome their instincts. Then, in the pupil, there is a view into space and the stars, as the spice allows for the kind of space travel described in the novel. Finally, there is a crysknife depicted as the highlight in the pupil which is a powerful symbol and weapon of the Fremen people native to the planet.
