A Phoenix Cannot be Destroyed by Flames
This mixed media painting was created with oil paint and book paper. It is based on Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. The following is the passage that inspired the painting, “Just as a phoenix cannot be destroyed by flames, the essence of literature can’t be destroyed by merely burning the pages: The wisdom and knowledge lives on in those who have carefully read the text.” The book paper was taken from an old paperback copy of Fahrenheit 451, the edges of pages were scorched, and then torn into feather-like shapes before being layered on the canvas.
